I moved to Florida in 2001 where I continued my lifelong career in nursing, working in the Medical Claims Review department at United Health Care.  In January 2008 I retired, and soon after began taking classes at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, with instructors Melissa Miller Nece in drawing (colored pencil) and Markissia Touliatos in oil portrait painting.
Although I have always loved to draw, and have “dabbled” in pastel and oil painting from time to time over the years, I never had much in the way of formal instruction until I enrolled at DFAC. 

In the 2009 Student Member show at DFAC my portrait titled “John” won the Best in Show award for a student submission.  In a show sponsored by the Florida chapter of the Colored Pencil Society of America in early 2010, my picture “Bedtime Story” won third place.

My interests lie in oil painting (portraits, landscapes and still life) and in drawing with pen and ink, colored pencils and pastels.
