Jana is an award winning artist who creates art for the love of art and seeks ways to make the “Ordinary, Extraordinary.” The oil paintings you are viewing were done on linen with hard core board and were created on location, or as the French say, “en plein air.”
She discovered a love for painting in the outdoors when painting at the Sponge Docks with fellow students at the Foropoulos School of Art in Tarpon Springs, FL in 2001. According to Jana, they did not have great weather that day and one student had his entire easel and canvas blown in the water, another had their canvas slammed to the ground face down, and she had more bugs in her paint than she could count. In spite of the mishaps, she loved the excitement of dealing with the unknowns, feeling the winds, and watching the constantly changing colors. Today she is an avid plein air painter and welcomes on-lookers.
